These unique cases are available in oak, maple, sapele (mahogany), walnut and cherry and are beautifully finished with 5 coats of varnish and waxed. The wood is selected to provide book-matched grain (i.e. mirror image about the center) and the grain is continuous around the case.
The case shown here is rift-sawn, book matched red oak with spalted maple drawers (this case is available for immediate shipping). Spalting occurs as part of the natural decay process and results in beautiful figure if caught and dryed in time. The drop down table has oak trim with walnut inlay. The photos below show the front and back of the case with the woodburned and painted pictures.
This is a great way to store and transport your fly tying material and your spouse will like the furniture quality of the case.
